FAQ

What is the fxhackathon?

The fxhackathon is a timed event to solve a creative brief we have laid out. You can do so either individually or as a part of a team. Alongside the main fxhackathon event, there are opportunities for workshops and mentorship taking place by and for stakeholders, community members, and creators.

Where do I apply?

No application is needed. You just need to publish the project on fxhash with all requirements before August 4, 2023. See more via the project requirements page.

Can I participate with a team?

Yes, you can participate with a team! It makes no difference whether your team works remotely or together in person. The maximum team size is 5 people. Keep in mind that the prize is based on projects, not people.

What is the goal of fxhackathon?

The end result of your work over the six-week time period should be to mint a novel, creative, and innovative fx(params) project that takes advantage of the code-driven params field to develop a custom minting interface. The emphasis of this project is to make sure your design encourages meaningful interactions between the artist, artwork, and collector.

As well as the foregoing, it’s highly encouraged that you and/or your team document your project and publish the overview on fx(text). This documentation, while not necessary but certainly appreciated, can serve to clearly illustrate how you achieved the project and to give both jurists and collectors an in-depth look at your process.

What are the judging criteria?

In a few words, the hackathon jury is looking for projects that create and explore boundary-pushing custom minting interfaces excitingly made possible by our new code-driven fx(params) mode. Your project should center around developing minting interfaces that emphasize an era of meaningful interactions between the artist, artwork, and collector.

The hackathon jury will assess the quality of submissions according to ease of use, originality, interactivity, artistic merit, technical proficiency, presentation innovativeness, and fun-factor.

Who can participate in fxhackathon?

Anyone can take part in the hackathon, though it will be useful to have experience with javascript development, as well as the development of generative tokens. If you have a great idea, but don’t know how to execute it, it may be worth teaming up with a developer who does.

What do I get?

There is a prize of 1,000 XTZ for each of the winners. As well as this, the top ten projects will be showcased at ACCESS, the first-ever fxhash community exhibition happening in Berlin, August 2023.
